KTM Komuter was started in the year 1995 and is the first electric train service in Malaysia which connected Kuala Lumpur City Centre with the surrounding of the sub-urban areas. Quickly it has become the popular mode of public transport because of the fast service and reasonable fares.

There are two different routes running between Tanjun Malim – Sungai Gadut and Batu Caves – Pelabuhan Klan and enroute these routes are the main shopping complexes, residential routes and stations that connect other rail routes like RAPID KL and ERL.

In the year 2012 the service took a major overhaul with the introduction of 38 new “My Komuter” services which lead to the increase in the passenger capacity by accomodating more than 1000 people in one trip with good facilities. KTM Komuter has more than 240 KM length of network that consists of 53 stations and has been slowly increasing its network.

Central Sector Information:

KTM Komuter’s 175 km metre-gauge network in the Central Sector mainly cover in Klang Valley has 53 stations. It consists of two cross-city routes, namely the Port Klang Line and Seremban Line lines, plus a shuttle service from Rawang to Tanjung Malim, which began in April 2007.

Northern Sector Information:

On 11 September 2015, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad introduced the Northern Sector KTM Komuter Shuttle service between Gurun in Kedah, Butterworth in Penang and Kamunting in Perak. This followed the completion of the Ipoh-Padang Besar Electrification and Double-Tracking Project in December 2014. On 1 January 2016, a second line was introduced between Butterworth and Padang Besar in Perlis.

Southern Sector Information:

KTMB introduced a new service for the southern route, KTM Komuter Southern Sector on 10 October 2015 prior to the completion of the Seremban-Gemas Electrified Double Tracking Project on 30 October 2013. This service is the second KTM Komuter service outside the Klang Valley after the northern counterpart.

  1. BAD ATTITUDE OF COUNTER STAFF IN PADANG JAWA

    I am taking ktm on 5/12 at 1115. The ticket machine in padang jawa station is not working so i have no choice but to buy the token at the counter. I’ve waited long time infront of the counter to buy a ticket because there is no one in the counter. 15 minutes later, the staff who in charge of the counter was back but she is still hide inside of the room and the train is almost arrive. So i knocked the glass(cuz she is still not at the counter) and asked for reload the touch n go. Finally the girl came out and accuse me of disturbing her and should wait her patiently. The staff shouldn’t do their personal stuff during working hours and then blame the customer for disturbing them to do their personal stuff. The staff fail to fulfuil her responsibility and have a bad attitude to customer.

    I almost missed the train due to Her sluggish attitude and i hope ktm can take this SERIOUS instead of indulging the sluggish attitude of the staff.
