HP was founded by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard who are two graduate students from Stanford University who started the company in a small garage in California in the year 1939. They started the company with an initial investment of 538 US dollars and named the company as HP.

Audio Oscillator was the first product which was financially successful of the many projects introduced by the company. The company didn’t focus working on a wide range of electronic products for industry and agriculture. From 1940’s till 1990’s, the company mainly concentrated on making electronic equipment like Thermometers, frequency counter, voltmeters etc. Then it started introducing Inkjet Printers, Laser Printers, Scanners, which are been successful as multifunction devices.
